About David McHugh

David is the Programme Director for the MSc in Applied Sport & Exercise Psychology at Setanta College. David is accredited with the Psychological Society of Ireland as a Chartered Sports & Exercise Psychologist, the Irish Institute of Sport, and the HCPC in the UK. He undertook his training as a Sports Psychologist through the BPS and a Professional Doctorate in Sports Psychology at Liverpool John Moores University and provides supervision to trainee Sport Psychologist seeking to get on the HCPC register. David leads the delivery of the MSc in Applied Sport & Exercise Psychology at Setanta College. David is also an applied practitioner providing support to athletes and teams ranging from recreational, youth, national and international. In addition to Sports Psychology support, David is also a UEFA Youth A Elite qualified coach who has worked with teams in the underage national league, senior women's national league in Ireland and the FAI Emerging Talent Program. In terms of research, David has several research interests. His areas of research are around the youth to senior transition, athletes balancing their dual-career, talent development environments and integrating psychology within coaching practice.
