About David Rothe
I received graduate degrees from U.C. Berkeley (MA, Musicology) and Stanford University (DMA in Organ, Choral Conducting and Performance Practice of Early Music). I am Professor of Music and University Organist Emeritus of California State University, Chico, where, from 1968 to 2008, I taught Music History, Music Appreciation, Organ and Harpsichord and directed the Repertory Chorus and University Chorus and formed and directed the Early Music Ensemble, and began and directed the Chico Bach Festival (from 2003 to 2008). I was also Project Director for the on-site construction of a world class Bach/Silbermann style pipe organ by Munetaka Yokota (1985-90). I am currently Organist-Choirmaster for St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and Principal Organist for St. John the Evangelist Episcopal church, both in Chico, CA. As organ consultant I have encouraged and overseen the installation of a number of fine tracker pipe organs in Northern California.
