About David Thibodeau
David Thibodeau (he/him) has a keen interest in how both sport and policy can have an affect and create a meaningful impact in our communities. David started Sports for Social Impact after attending Global Sports Week as the only Young Sport Maker from Canada in 2020 to explore the intersection of sport and society provide thoughtful reflections to those working in the sport industry and policy. He uses his experience as an athlete, coach and sport administrator to help feed into this initiative. He tries to bring this lens to his role as a member on the Board of Directors of the Canada Games Council. He is an advocate for better inclusion of 2SLGBTQ+ people in sports and in gym class. Some of his advocacy work has included authoring Coach New Brunswick's Coach’s guide for Working with LGBTQ+ Athletes. As an Ambassador for You Can Play, David presented at Egale’s OUTShine conference in 2019 on “The strength of diversity and inclusion in school sports", and other groups on inclusion in sport. He currently works in the citizenship program in program management and policy development at Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.
