Background
About David Tickner
With a strong academic foundation, I earned a First-Class Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nottingham, a renowned institution in the field of engineering. From a young age, I've been deeply passionate about swimming, and my dedication to the sport led me to compete in the Netherlands National Junior Championships (NJK). I have spent over five years as an Engineer at Dynaflow Research Group (DRG), an advanced engineering consultancy firm, where I currently hold the position of Senior Engineer. My expertise spans a range of industry-standard codes, including ASME B31.3, and ISO14692 for pipework, and I am well-versed in using various software programs such as CAESAR II, OpenFOAM, BOSfluids, FEPipe, CREO, ANSYS Mechanical, PV-Elite, and Abaqus. During my tenure at DRG, I've successfully completed numerous projects, including pipe stress analyses for modules on an FPSO (Floating Production Storage and Offloading) vessel using CAESAR II, root cause analysis of failures in buried GRE piping, FEA of pressure vessels for both steel and GRE designs using Abaqus, and transportation line failures due to surge using BOSfluids and the CAESAR II dynamics module. Additionally, I have made significant contributions to our internal processes, creating Excel-based templates for streamlined post-processing and reporting, developing methodologies for project execution in AIV and FIV-based excitation analyses in compliance with Energy Institute Guidelines. Within Dynaflow I have also taken up the mantle of training coordinator. This role has had me develop, produce, and provide several training programs and courses, including "ASME - design by analysis","Pressure Vessel Analysis using PV Elite", and "Waterhammer Analysis" courses. Alongside this development, I've worked to enhance the management of DRG's training materials to ensure high-quality training programs with ever advancing content. Lastly, within this role I have coordinated for numerous trainings to be given in self-paced online, E-hybrid, and classroom formats with various clients; organising the customised course contents, the pricing quotations, procurement of POs, and delivery of the course.
