Background
About David Yen
I have 12+ years of experience in architecture and design, focusing on high-end custom single-family residential design and multi-family residential development, and also small scale commercial, mixed-use, institutional, and tenant improvement projects. My years in the AEC (architecture, engineering, and construction) industry has allowed me to gain extensive knowledge of the various phases of development that a building design project typically undergoes (from pre-design, SD, DD, CD, permitting, and CA), and also the hands-on technical work experience required to make projects successfully come to life. Prior to my career as a professional in architecture, I worked as a designer, builder, and carpenter in traditional Japanese heavy timber frame construction, focusing on Zen Buddhist temple complexes, ceremonial teahouse, and residential hybrid projects. I also worked in custom furniture design-build projects for quite some time. I love to design and build and if not working on a work related project, I stay busy with mind and my hands working on a few personal projects of my own.
