About Debbie Deschambault

What does the road look like for an extroverted introvert who gets great joy out of working with people and helping to solve their problems? My journey from Software Engineering, to Project Management has been anything but straightforward. I did my post-secondary education, but went straight into quality assurance instead of writing code as part of my day-to-day working experience. This led to 15+ years of evolution through quality assurance and business analysis consulting roles (I can translate business requirements to tech like nobody's business), before getting into lead and management roles. After a quick dip into dispute litigation, followed by going back to school for a business degree, I found myself in Project Management, which I love. Over the years of my career, I have (among other things)- Juggled resources, progress and timelines for up to 8-10 simultaneous projects at a time, in multiple time zones - Trained, taught and mentored direct reports, colleagues (as and when appropriate), and clients on newly implemented systems, operational best practices, and skills that were useful to improve their businesses and internal processes - Worked with clients to understand their processes and needs, to develop strategies and solutions to resolve their issues and improve the quality of their working days - Improved processes and filled in organizational gaps to allow pipeline growth by double within the first year of implementation Some of the most important skills that I have developed are- Effective listening and excellent communication - Relationship building with people from all walks of life and very diverse backgrounds - The ability to quickly learn new software and tools - Problem solving, analysis, nimbleness, and the ability to pivot and adjust as needed - The willingness to ask good quality questions to improve understanding - Staying organized and on top of multiple concurrent, unrelated projects
