I’m sure you’ve worked with really great managers as well as really ineffective managers….I truly believe that all managers have the potential to be great managers! In my previous human resources leadership roles, I noticed that when managers were provided training and development, wonderful things happened…employee complaints declined and retention and engagement increased. I decided to duplicate my management development philosophy and techniques for other organizations by starting my company Management Skills Resource, Inc. in My company is devoted to providing creative, interactive, and inspiring training workshops designed to build the confidence, competence, and courage of managers in a variety of industries. For those “do-it-yourself’ facilitators I authored The Management Map book and workbook series which can be used to facilitate workshops or be given as a day-one promotion gift to immediately get the newly promoted on the road to becoming great managers. To continue to give back to the human resource profession and utilize my lifetime SPHR certification, I have been instructing the PHR/SPHR certification prep class at the University of Dallas since 2001. My affiliation and volunteer assignments at Dallas HR and Dallas ATD including as President of Dallas ATD in 2007, keep me current in human resources and training trends.
