About Debra Michals
I am the Chair and Associate Professor in the Humanities Department at Merrimack College. I am a women's/gender historian; my work focuses on 20th century U.S. women's history and women's entrepreneurship. I am the author of "She's the Boss: The Rise of Women's Entrepreneurship since World War II"(Rutgers University Press, 2025. I have also developed and written museum exhibits and programs. I teach US women's history, social movement history; women and business, and leadership. I am a public speaker on various topics (especially women's business ownership, women's history, and gender/women's workplace issues such as the gender pay gap). In addition, I am a seasoned book editor (print and digital formats) with an expertise in US history. I have helped scholars and individuals refine, polish, and shape their written work. My background includes text/course books as well as monographs.
