About Deepak Joshi

I stumbled into advertising via the seldom-used route of previously being a waiter, a clerk, a mechanic, a labourer in a biscuit factory, a beach hawker and a swami in the Himalayas. This strange mix of experience came in handy in advertising where I had to write copy aimed at people from all walks of life. To whom I sold products as diverse as cars, noodles, computers, jeans, newspapers, refrigerators, super expensive lager and cheap, high alcohol content beer. Advertising gave me a lot. I had the privilege of working in the best of agencies. I worked on hundreds of great brands plus helped launch Levi's jeans in India, Hyundai Santro cars, Indus Pride beer, Kelvinator microwave ovens, BPL Frost-free refrigerators and RC strong beer. I won a few international awards and a lot more than a few local awards. All these years later, I still believe in the power of the written word, I still love long copy, I still revere great ideas and I'm still passionate about advertising.
