About Deepak Menon

I am an accomplished biochemist and an excellent team-player with 9 years of research experience in the therapeutic targeting of cancer metabolism and retinal diseases. This is evidenced by my contributions to 11 collaborative projects involving cross-functional scientific teams. I bring a diverse repertoire of technical expertise, troubleshooting, and critical thinking skills with past experiences in the independent design of assays to study cellular processes in cancers and angiogenesis models. Being a passionate communicator, I enjoy simplifying and tailoring scientific concepts for diverse audiences that have included researchers, KOLs, HCPs, and students. I have thoroughly enjoyed communicating scientific know-how with students in underserved neighbourhoods and the general public through multiple volunteer outreach programs. As a research mentor, I am enthusiastic about training the next generation of scientists. As a project lead and a co-mentor working with 10 different research trainees, I've designed independent research projects, provided hands-on training in data analysis, presentation and molecular biology bench skills, leading to multiple research presentations and awards at national platforms. I have extensive experience writing & reviewing scientific content for high-impact scientific journals and currently serve as a member of the early career review board for the Journal of Biological Chemistry. Outside of work, I enjoy experimenting with my green thumb (the latest being optimizing hydroponic gardening). In my free time, I enjoy biking and exploring new trails.
