About Derek Johnson
I recently co-founded Thorium Entertainment, a small independent game studio in Vancouver, BC. We're hard at work on our first project, stay tuned! Prior to Thorium, I wrote a lot of code for Relic Entertainment, where I learned new things every day about C++, UI, Scaleform, Flash, and ActionScript. I lead the UI engineering effort for a wide range of titles, including Company of Heroes Online, Dawn of War 2: Retribution, Warhammer 40K Space Marine, Company of Heroes 2, multiple expansions, and various unannounced titles. Before Relic, I founded a small independent game tools company and created a full-featured free 2D game engine and toolset for the indie community. Even longer ago, I was an engineer for IBM. I am passionate about competitive RTS and MOBA games.
