Compulsion Games
Hello! We are Compulsion Games, an Xbox-owned video game developer based in Montreal, Canada. Our office, previously located in Saint Henri, is now located in Westmount. Our team is made up of passionate, excited people with varying levels of experience, ranging from very senior to very junior, but we all share a passion for video games and a desire to create amazing work. We're now approximately 90 employees strong and are looking to expand with the right people. We opened our doors in 2009, with a focus on creating new intellectual properties for PC and console using Unreal Engine. Our first game, Contrast, launched on PC, PS3, Xbox 360 and PS4 in November 2013 and on Xbox One in May 2014. Contrast tells the story of a little girl and her imaginary friend, set in an adult world of film noir, cabaret and gangsters-and we're damn proud of it, too. We shipped our second project, We Happy Few, in August 2018. We Happy Few is set in a retrofuturistic 1960s England, filled with paranoid citizens and dystopic euphoria. 2018 was also the same year we joined the Xbox family and are now officially a Microsoft studio! Recently in April 2025, we released our latest title South of Midnight, a third person action-adventure game set in the American Deep South. South of Midnight tells a dark modern folktale and is driven by a rich narrative, unique art direction, and thematic gameplay elements.
