About Dionisia Mathios

Dionisia "Dana" Mathios, Curator & Director of Collections - Social Media Manager, graduated from the University of Denver (DU) in 2015 with a Master’s in Anthropology: Museum and Heritage Studies. She has twelve years’ experience working in museums and brings a breadth of knowledge to the Colorado Snowsports Museum and Hall of Fame. From her work experiences and education she has become familiar with the maintenance and organization of museum objects plus the various approaches to exhibition design and installation. Dana has been drafting and installing exhibition plans since 2013. Most recently, Dana was involved with the extensive renovation of the Colorado Snowsports Museum in 2018. This experience gave her the chance to select artifacts for display, create meaningful and educational interpretation, and install our six exhibition bays. Post renovation, Dana has been focusing on improving the preservation of artifacts, digitization, and greater access to the Museum's collection. In 2018 she also revived the Museum's social media accounts, launched the CSM's online collection as well as a Digital Resources tab to their website during the lockdown of 2020. Dana was instrumental in helping the Colorado Snowsports Museum join the Digital Public Library of America's Plains to Peaks Program in 2021, making our collection more accessible. During 2022 Dana has been diligently uploading the Museum's digitized film collection to our online collection and YouTube channels, in hopes of continuing to make our archival footage more discoverable. Entering 2023, Dana has shifted her focus into curating off-site exhibitions, continues to grow our social media accounts (introducing TikTok in 2022), and expanding our digitization. She is also taking on writing a book on behalf of the CSM through Arcadia Press. The subject will be Colorado's rich snow sports history.
