About Divya Susan Varkey

Divya Susan Varkey is an Intercultural Communications Trainer, Coach and Lecturer based in Den Haag, the Netherlands. She is certified by Hofstede Insights in Intercultural Communications Management and Organizational Culture and has double masters degrees in Intercultural Communications (Universita della Svizzera italiana, Switzerland) and Communications (School of Communications, Manipal, India). Her current focus is to bridge the gaps between European and Indian cultures. Divya has first-hand experience co-starting an SME in Bangalore, India, hiring a team and developing processes. With more than ten years of work experience in Communications and Public Relations, and having travelled in 18 countries, she uses her experiences and learning to conduct effective workshops for participants from all over the globe. In the years following her entry into the intercultural communications field, she has trained executives and students from more than 50 different countries including CXO's and high level managers from some of the biggest known global brands on expatriate assignments in India, as well as the multicultural teams of several companies. Her academic papers,"The Great Indian Democracy" and "A Global Pandemic in India" were published in 2019 and 2020 in the Journal of Intercultural Management and Ethics. Another academic paper, Paralinguistic Code-Switching Behaviour in Polyglots, was chosen to be presented at SIETAR India in 2018. She also has conducted lectures in universities in Japan, the Netherlands, Switzerland and India on Intercultural Business Communications and Unconscious Biases. In her newest role as Head of Learning Experiences and Partnerships at Edstutia, she co-creates contemporary and effective learning programs using Virtual Reality.
