Trumpeter and Composer Dominic Muller has played numerous performances in his music career. The native Tucsonan has studied and played with Ed Reid, Jason Carder, Kenny Rampton, and Kenny Smukal. Dominic has performed at the University of Arizona, Monterey Jazz Festival, and the Lincoln-Center Essentially-Ellington Jazz Festival. As an up-and-comping composer, Dominic was recently honored to perform one of his compositions for the University of Arizona trumpet studio, which was well-received by his musical colleagues. Many of his compositions can be heard around Tucson in local churches, as his music compositions vary from calm and meditative to upbeat pieces combining elements of jazz, classical, and electronic music. As a trumpet player, Dominic regularly performs solo or with ensembles around Tucson. He toured with the Tucson Jazz Institute Ellington Big Band throughout California and New York. Dominic’s greatest accomplishment as a performer was when the Ellington Big Band won the Essentially Ellington competition in New York Lincoln Center, an event run by Wynton Marsalis. Aside from performing and composition, he also teaches private lessons to those looking to learn the trumpet. Dominic is currently studying under Ryan Darke for his degree in Trumpet Performance at the University of Arizona.
