About Donna Katz

An Australian native, Donna moved to Napa Valley, California in 2013 after ten years on the commodities trading floor in the UK and US to be closer to the land, and in 2014 she began dry-farming a small block of grapevines organically, by hand and making restrained style wines. Farming opened her eyes to what it really means to care for the land and wine making piqued her interest on the nutritious side of fermentation. Donna specifically started fermenting ginger for her own gut health, often incorporating foraged and seasonal ingredients and quickly came to realize she was making beverages she couldn’t buy - ones that had no added sugar or sweeteners and crafted with only real ingredients. Then the Aussie in her was like well why isn’t there any alcohol in these delicious and clean beverages? Ginger beer is a $1.6B category in the US and mostly saturated with low quality, high sugar and artificial ingredients. Donna plans to change that and awaken a sleepy household category through innovation, clean and real ingredients that are approachable, appealing and versatile, showcasing the true wellness benefits of ginger. G’s is first to market in 2018 with a new category of ginger-based beverage alcohol. Every shelf-stable G’s is gluten-free, plant-based and fermented to dry - which means there’s no remaining sugar and we don’t add sugar, sweeteners, erythritol or stevia and absolutely never any artificial ingredients.
