About Douglas Labier

The overall focus of my work is identifying and supporting what psychologically healthy living in personal lives, the workplace and in public policy looks like - in the context of today’s turbulent, unpredictable, rapidly evolving, interconnected and interdependent world. As a business psychologist, I help executives and companies integrate personal development with strategies to build positive, healthy management and leadership through programs of the Center for Progressive Development, which I direct. As a psychoanalytic psychotherapist, I help men and women resolve emotional conflicts that impact personal life goals, relationships and careers. As a writer, I'm the author of Modern Madness, which described how career success in our culture can impact people's emotional development, for better or for worse. I write and edit the blog ProgressiveImpact.org; and am the author of over 100 articles as a free-lance contributor to The Huffington Post, Psychology Today, The Washington Post, and other publications. My work has been the subject of frequent coverage by national print and broadcast media, and I've been interviewed about my work and research by various outlets, including the Today show, NBC Nightly News, ABC’s Good Morning America, CBS Morning News, CNN, FOX; NPR, PBS and others. I'm currently a clinical professor at The George Washington University's doctoral program in psychology, and have served on the faculty of the Washington School of Psychiatry.
