About Doyle Theimer

I am a member of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, and a good, all-around pastoral leader whose influence is typically subtle but beneficial and enduring. I aim to promote God's mission by helping to develop missional leaders. My strongest spiritual gift is probably wisdom. I excel in adapting God’s unchanging truth to human contexts, based on in-depth theological analysis. At this point in my life, the final phase of my ministry career, I am drawn to improving or developing leadership for relational and family discipleship as a focus for a church. I am interested in church planting, as the multiplication of disciples and multiplication of churches go hand in hand. I could also be a good Senior Pastor in a multi-staff congregation wanting to focus on improving the discipleship culture. I feel confident working across the range of ages from youth to aged, and even to teach college level introductory theology. Although I do not have a doctoral degree, I am especially adept at articulating biblical theology from a confessional Lutheran framework. I have had training and experience in leading these specialized congregational ministry programs: Alpha, Stephen Ministry, Celebrate Recovery, Journey Groups (by Open Hearts Ministries), Transformation Prayer Ministry, 3DM Learning Community (Discipling Culture), and the Life Model (Thrive Training level 1). I completed two years of course work and two semesters of Teaching Aassistant in the PhD program at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, but decided not to pursue it any further. I am part of a church planting leadership network called Harvest Partnership. Also, I currently serve as Circuit Visitor of Circuit 33 in the Texas District, LCMS. My theology is grounded in the divinely inspired Scriptures and a Christology that accents how the Lord Jesus mediates the new identity we receive as God’s children, along with the promised Holy Spirit, the authority to bind and forgive sins on earth, the gift of eternal life and participation in divine glory.
