I am a Safelives qualified Independent Domestic Abuse Advisor (IDVA) and freelance trainer based in Yorkshire. I have spent thousands of hours with those that harm in a scientific and evidence based approach. Working primarily with both male and female perpetrators of abuse, with a BA (Hons) in Social Sciences, I have sixteen years of experience as a practising risk assessor for perpetrators. A Respect trained Domestic Abuse Practitioner in; Ahimsa, Caring Dads, specific issue risk assessments, also hold a contracted role as a Perpetrator intervention worker. I have worked in the Secure Estate with perpetrators on short term sentencing. In my work I deliver both one-to-one and group interventions, both on-line and in the community. With extensive experience, knowledge and understanding of themes from attachment theory to risk management, I am a professional report writer regularly completing related Child Protection assessments including- Domestic Abuse Stalking and Harassment (DASH)- Spousal Abuse Risk Assessment (SARA) My training includes working with children and young people displaying sexually harmful behaviour. I have delivered support groups to parents of those affected by their children’s abusive patterns of behaviour, as well as for children who are modelling or developing abusive patterns in their own behaviours. My focus is on assessing and addressing risk factors associated with domestic abuse notably, coercive control, parental alienation, child on parent abuse, mental health, workplace abuse, drug and alcohol misuse. Working within Domestic Abuse Services - with Perpetrators (male and female), Adult Victims (female and male), children who are at risk of perpetrating and their families, and those that have been impacted by Domestic Abuse, my overarching drive in this field is to positively influence those that are negatively affected by Domestic Abuse.
