I have recently completed my PhD dissertation on 'Ronald Reagan's Strategic Defense Initiative and transatlantic relations, 1983-1986'. Through the lens of the controversy over the US ballistic missile defence programme, the study offers a new reading of transatlantic relations in the Reagan era, which accounts for the complex coexistence of cooperation and divergence within NATO during the Cold War’s last, transformative decade.
