About Edward Lau

My career experience and skills gained throughout my education and in my personal hobbies have allowed me to see problems from multiple perspectives and understand the best approaches to solving them. My curiosity for understanding how things work has led me to dig deeper on all subjects of interest, leading to a natural attraction to finding optimized solutions to problems. Since childhood, I’ve had a fascination for this and loved taking things apart and fixing broken things that would otherwise be discarded. My first co-op experience builds on this as I participated in the root-cause-analysis of an equipment malfunction where many modes of failure were completely new to me and everything was a fresh learning experience. In addition, I always look for opportunities for improvement and ways to add value while achieving all objectives. My most recent projects involve designing and building custom test equipment in-house to suit our team’s needs. Other projects include basic automation of repetitive tasks and improving functionality of pre-existing equipment. These projects allowed for additional testing capabilities while having a much lower barrier to entry. Also, by reducing repetitive tasks, time could be spent more efficiently and staff could better focus on new and exciting projects. I’m looking forward to innovating further in my field and being part of a strong team that works together to solve new and challenging problems. Feel free to reach out if you’d like to learn more about me!
