About Edward Schulte

Edward is a managing director with Andersen’s San Francisco alternative Investments fund team. He has more than 19 years of experience in public accounting and focuses on the alternative investment industry. He specializes in the taxation of hedge funds. Edward was previously a Partner with KPMG and before that was a Principal with Rothstein Kass. Edward brings extensive experience in the taxation of financial instruments. These areas include advising companies on issues relating to wash sales, short sales, options, constructive sales, notional principal contracts, mark-to-market, straddles, foreign currency denominated instruments, market discount bonds, distressed debt, passive foreign investment companies and reportable transactions. He has developed an automated tax approach for funds related to the taxation of financial instruments. Edward advises companies on partnership structuring matters, including the complexities involved with the contribution and distribution of property. He also advises companies on U.S. withholding related to the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act. Other activities Provides training workshops for clients on various tax-related topics, including an annual Year-End Tax Forum, which typically takes place in November/December. Interests include painting and computer programming.
