About Eelika Kiil

As a junior research fellow at the University of Tartu's Department of Geology, I'm immersed in the fascinating world of geosciences, exploring the intricate dynamics of our planet's evolution. Currently pursuing my PhD. I'm passionate about uncovering the mysteries of Earth's history and contributing to our understanding of its geological processes. Academic Pursuits: My academic journey began with a focus on the geochemical variability of Estonian oil shale and the innovative use of byproducts from Estonian power plants. Building on this foundation, I transitioned into my doctoral research, where I am investigating the nuanced relationship between silicate weathering intensity and global environmental shifts during the early Palaeozoic era. Community Engagement: Beyond my academic pursuits, I'm deeply committed to promoting the importance of geosciences and sharing my passion with diverse audiences. From teaching students of all ages to organizing impactful events, I actively engage with the geoscience community to facilitate knowledge exchange and collaboration.
