About Eilis Slater

BA Hons in Classics with Upper Second Class Honours from the University of Glasgow. Currently a Senior Social Media Manager with the Scottish Government. In my role I am responsible for overseeing and developing in-house social media campaigns and providing expert strategic support for marketing campaigns, including paid-for advertising on social media. My last role was as the SWRC Communications Officer for Rape Crisis Scotland, where I provided communications strategy and output within the context of civil justice for survivors of gender-based violence. I have also worked on a national level as External Affairs Officer for Scottish Women’s Aid - the lead organisation in Scotland working towards prevention of domestic abuse. I was responsible for the running of national campaigns, media responses, social media content management and supporting the network of over 30 Women's Aid groups across Scotland in their own communications work. My previous work which included frontline support on a domestic abuse helpline, employment for a domestic abuse court advocacy service, as well as training with Rape Crisis Scotland has developed my knowledge of gender-based violence and specialist survivor-focussed communications work. Balanced with my video content creation background stemming from my time in Glasgow University Student Television (GUST), I have been able to bring my video production and editing skills into my professional life in order to create more varied and engaging content and save third sector organisations vital funds in outsourcing this.
