About Elai Davicioni

My work over the last 15 years has been focused on developing practice changing, clinically actionable genomics technology for routine use by oncology healthcare professionals. My scientific training (chemistry, biophysics, bioinformatics) at UBC, Ben Gurion & USC led me to be part of a team that used gene expression profiling to help pathologists and oncologists better diagnose and risk stratify pediatric sarcomas. In 2007 I founded my first company, Decipher Biosciences (formerly GenomeDx) which was acquired by Veracyte in 2021. The focus of our research has been on the use of clinical grade whole-transcriptome assays coupled to cloud-based informatics pipelines and analytics. This has been leveraged in collaborative research with urologic oncologists and allied health sciences researchers with the goal of improving patient risk stratification and applying a precision medicine approach to prostate, bladder and renal cancer. In addition, we have built multidisciplinary research teams and a commercial organization to deploy genomic innovation into the clinic. Decipher is the market leading prostate cancer genomic test and our research has led to several hundred publications and dozens of patents that have moved our field forward.
