My mission as a public health professional is to build our scientific understanding of the presence, distribution, and mechanisms of chronic disease causal factors, and to work alongside organizational and community partners to prevent disease and improve the quality of life among all individuals.As a leader, I am principled and candid. I encourage project-centric focus, diligent work ethic, and welcome diverse perspectives to generate innovative solutions to complex and challenging problems. I communicate with clarity and confidence and motivate others to overcome setbacks. I encourage a culture of teamwork, inclusivity, and innovation as well as continued professional development.As a scientist, I leverage my interdisciplinary training to identify impactful research and practice opportunities consistent with organizational mission and goals. My reputation for collaboration and informed decision-making quickly builds trusting partnerships, both internally and externally. My ability to direct the planning, funding, implementation, and dissemination of project outcomes in a timely and high-quality manner ensures long-standing business relationships.In higher education, I have a proven record of delivering innovative and enriching learning experiences that translate into career-relevant knowledge and skills. I’ve successfully led teams of co-investigators, graduate, and undergraduate students in obtaining grant funding for laboratory-based and community-based participatory research. Additionally, I’ve provided administrative leadership for novel interdisciplinary undergraduate curricula and programs.
