Background
About Ellen Hawken
I am an experienced SEN educator with specific SLD experience. I have been working within the sector since 2010, teaching a range of subjects, creating a bespoke person centred curriculum. I have a real passion for this sector and truly enjoy encouraging the development of young minds and preparing students for adulthood. I have a degree in Applied Psychology and Sociology and a Diploma in teaching. I’m continuously looking to further develop my skills and knowledge base, recently undertaking behaviour management training.I have experience in supporting and educating students with special educational needs, working towards both accredited qualifications and RARPA. Last academic year I successfully led my first Duke of Edinburgh group, comprising of 19 students with additional needs. I have now been asked to share our ambitious and inclusive delivery with other Colleges in the area. In a previous role, I have managed a large team, supporting and encouraging development of a wide range of curriculums within the Foundation Learning team.
