About Emily Hess

I’m Emily Hess, a graduate of the University of Nevada, Reno, where I earned a dual degree in English (Creative Writing) and Journalism (News & Broadcasting/Public Relations). With a background that bridges creative storytelling and strategic communication, I currently serve as the Social Media and Public Relations Coordinator at Argentum Partners and volunteer as the Public Relations Coordinator at The Love and Mine Foundation. At UNR, I served as the Arts and Entertainment Editor for The Nevada Sagebrush and created Confessions of a Hot Mess, a recurring column known for its humor, emotional depth, and honest reflections on college life. I also competed in the National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC), helping develop campaign strategy, digital content, and presentation materials for AT & T through the Integrated Marketing Communications program. Professionally, I’ve gained experience in both newsroom and agency settings. At KOLO 8 News Now, I worked in morning broadcast production, writing scripts and coordinating live segments. At Reno Social Media, I built content strategies, analyze performance metrics, and help small businesses grow their online presence. At Argentum, I support statewide PR initiatives and develop messaging that blends media outreach with compelling storytelling. As a volunteer PR Coordinator for The Love and Mine Foundation, I help increase awareness and engagement around power-based violence prevention in the Reno community. I’m passionate about using smart, engaging storytelling to connect brands with their audiences.
