About Emily Olson

Emily is excited to share her experience as a career civil servant in crisis response and international development. Her current position is with USAID's Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance as a Humanitarian Assistance Officer specializing in the East Africa region. She has been deployed on multiple humanitarian disaster responses and has served as acting Team Lead and Deputy Manager, supervising teams of up to 6 people. Her responsibilities include- Communication and collaboration with partners and donors - Monitoring program funding and implementation, including on-site audits of programming in Kenya - Evaluating program efficacy and supplying strategic solutions - Making strategic financial, budgetary, and programmatic decisions Emily has also lived and worked across Europe. As a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ukraine, she established training teams including seeking and receiving funding, creating curricula, and locating resources. Her primary language is English and she has a working knowledge of Spanish and Ukrainian. With a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and International Studies and a Master’s in Public Policy and Human Development, Emily brings a mix of qualitative and quantitative skills from multiple sectors. Her international experience in policy, project design and management, education, and sustainability equips her with a unique, multi-sectoral, and multi-cultural point of view and approach to continually strive to impact through informed, policy-driven work.
