About Emily Smith

I am currently an infectious disease epidemiologist for the Santa Clara County Public Health Department, with a focus on COVID-19, MPOX, and HIV/STIs. I conduct epidemiologic investigations and data projects for the prevention and control of communicable diseases. Additionally, I assist in the planning and development of health programs and policies. I also work as a part-time consultant for The Task Force for Global Health in the Benefit-Risk Assessment of Vaccines by Technology Working Group. I help complete and ensure timely completion of vaccine templates for CEPI (Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations). Colleagues know me as a highly motivated individual with great work ethic. I am also known to work well collaborating with others and maintaining myself in social situations. I love to use my creative energy to approach any obstacles in an innovative way. Additionally, my positive outlook on life provides me to see the good in any situation. I am a graduate from the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University with a Masters in Global Epidemiology. Additionally, I have a Bachelors of Science degree, majoring in Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics, from the University of California, Los Angeles.
