About Emma Balkwill

I have predominantly worked in the catering industry for the last ten years. I started out in a kitchen, rapidly promoted to unit manager and following a 200% increase in sales promoted again to senior management. In this role I developed an entire program of workshops to be delivered throughout the business to promote our service, educate in healthy eating and generate more sales and retain contracts. Following redundancy to avoid any gap in employment I undertook various roles through an agency demonstrating my drive and adaptability. I returned to the catering industry in my most recent role as an area manager, despite my lack of experience in operations I undertook this role with ambition and quickly learned the skills required to successfully manage 20 sites with around 80 staff. I was responsible for all operations, auditing, recruitment, training, HR, payroll, staff placement and budgeting. This was a fast paced reactive role, I am well organised, highly motivated, have excellent communication skills am decisive and pro active in problem resolution. Following recent redundancy due to Covid I am now looking forward to a new challenge and taking my skills and experience to another industry where I can continue to learn, grow and progress.
