About Eric Riskus

As the Independent Living Program Director at Midstate Independent Living Choices (MILC), I lead a dedicated nonprofit team focused on empowering individuals through five core services: Information & Referral, Advocacy, Peer Support, Independent Living Skills Training, and Transitioning people with disabilities from institutional settings to community living. With 20 years of diverse leadership experience across organizations, boards, committees, and volunteer roles, I’ve developed a well-rounded approach to leadership. I am passionate about creating impactful change, fostering collaboration, and mentoring others to help them unlock their full potential. Mentoring is at the core of my leadership philosophy. I thrive on guiding others through challenges, supporting their professional growth, and empowering them to embrace their strengths. Whether leading teams, coaching individuals, or facilitating development opportunities, I believe in inspiring people to push for excellence and develop the skills they need to succeed. In addition to my role at MILC, I proudly serve in several leadership positions, including: Chair of the Independent Living Council of Wisconsin Commissioner and Board Member of the Stevens Point Housing Authority Voting Board Member of the Wisconsin Coalition of Independent Living Centers (WCILC) I am passionate about creating inclusive, accessible environments where individuals can thrive, make meaningful contributions, and achieve their personal and professional goals.
