Background
About Erin Murray
I'm a recent graduate of ATU Galway with a BSc (Hons) in Applied Freshwater and Marine Biology. I have hands-on experience in aquaculture (King Salmon, New Zealand) and freshwater conservation with ESB Fisheries, working with salmon, eel, and sea lamprey. My academic background and thesis work have deepened my interest in Irish botany and conservation. As part of the ACRES results-based payment scheme, I researched how drone technology can support peatland habitat assessment and monitor invasive species like rhododendron and self-sown conifers. Through this work, I developed strong skills in fieldwork, ecological monitoring, and habitat assessment. I'm passionate about sustainable land use, freshwater ecosystems, and the role of nature-based solutions in conservation. I'm currently seeking opportunities to build a career in ecology, habitat restoration, or freshwater resource management in Ireland. Always open to connecting with like-minded people and learning from others in the field!
