Background

About Ernso Pierre

Growing up in Haiti, I faced immense hardships. My father passed when I was seven, and my mother struggled to keep me in school. I vividly remember the day a teacher came to our home, demanding payment my mother couldn’t afford. Desperate, she gave away our belongings. Eventually, my siblings were sent for adoption because she couldn’t feed us all. She never saw them again, and shortly after, my mother passed away when I was eight. I was completely alone. At an early age, I crossed the border into the Dominican Republic, searching for better opportunities. I quickly learned Spanish and connected with the local community. Years later, I moved to the U.S, determined to make a better life and focused on learning English. As the first in my family to earn a degree, I received an associate degree from BYU-Pathway, along with certifications as a medical interpreter, motivational speaker, and small business creator. I later earned a degree in International Relations from BYU-Idaho. For decades, I have worked to resettle immigrants and refugees, helping them integrate and develop professionally, educationally, and personally. I emphasize equity, integrity, and responsibility in my work. I am fluent in English, Spanish, Haitian Creole, French, and conversational Portuguese. Even in those dark times, I held onto my dream of pursuing education. I knew that education was the key to changing my life. In Haiti, I sold soap and sugar in the streets to pay for my schooling. The value of opportunity was clear to me because I had so little of it. As an orphan, many—including my teachers—said I would never amount to anything. Their words became my motivation instead. My mission is clear: to empower working-class refugees, immigrants, and their children through English education and personalized coaching. I help them integrate, pursue higher education, and achieve the American dream. I’ve seen firsthand how the lack of language skills leads to misunderstandings and even workplace injuries. But it doesn’t have to be that way. An educated workforce benefits individuals and businesses alike. Education shapes identity. Without it, people lose sight of who they can become. Opportunity builds identity. I’ve been in a place where I didn’t know who I was or what I could achieve. But education changed my life, and now I’m dedicated to changing the lives of others. So, I ask you: Are you ready to join this mission? Connect with me or send a message. Let’s discuss how we can empower your immigrant and refugee employees to succeed in life, work, and society.
