About Ethan Bates

I have worked in local government and communities for 3+ years through the Barren River Area Development District and the City of Edmonton. In my role as Regional Transportation Planner, I coordinate local elected officials across 25 cities and 10 counties to help tackle big issues in South-Central Kentucky, such as public transit, pedestrian infrastructure, roadway project prioritization, and more. I also administer over $1.6 million in grant funds for the region to improve sidewalks, establish trails connecting our communities, and improve hazardous roadways. I am a proud graduate from the Gordon Ford College of Business at Western Kentucky University, where I studied Business Economics and Management before obtaining my Master's in Applied Economics. In that process I developed skills in statistical analysis, including in software packages like R, Python, SPSS, and SAS. I merged my professional and academic life in my Master's thesis,"Political Party Affiliation as a Determinant of Electric Vehicle Ownership in Kentucky Counties".
