About Fabio Morea

As Head of Sustainability at Area Science Park, my role revolves around the development and implementation of our sustainability strategy. On a day-to-day basis, I coordinate a team and some internal projects providing planning, technical solutions and data-driven support to our top management. The core challenge is decarbonising the Park, and improve services such as waste management and mobility (helping colleagues to minimise their carbon footprint when commuting to the park). Our strategy covers also projects to reduce water consumption, adapt to climate change, enhance accessibility for all. My background includes working as a freelance engineer (from to 2014), focusing on the design, prototyping, and testing of innovative industrial products and renewable energy sources. I hae been a contract professor at the University of Trieste, and supported the City of Trieste in preparing the Sustainable Energy Action Plan (SEAP) in 2012. Committed to continuous learning, I have earned qualifications as an energy manager, mobility manager, and project manager over the years. In February 2025, I completed a PhD in Applied Data Science and Artificial Intelligence - focused on robust statistical methods for exploring large datasets - deepening my passion for continuous learning and data-driven sustainability.
