About Faye Johnson

I bring over 27 years of working with the most vulnerable, in many people centred environments and service provision. I bring a variety of skills and life lessons based around providing care for those who have limited voice to address their needs and minimal supports to achieve safety. Through advocation and networking, my skills have been used for designing and evaluating services for those with multiple barriers, addictions and a willingness to pursue a career or skill training and education. I have also been involved in policy development and writing proposals, reports and support letters that ensure funding for these services are obtained for ongoing supports. I understand the importance of keeping statistics and tracking measurable key performance indicators. I also bring a passion for education and delivering workshops, presentations and information sessions that inspire, educate and motivate at all levels. Over the years I have also taken a heavy interest in ensuring those who have learning challenges are able to comprehend and help them to learn how they learn. This also means that I have developed “work arounds” for those who have identified certain learning challenges. As a champion of skilled trades, I have also developed hands on activities for learning outcomes geared towards land-based activities and tied those to Indigenous ways of knowing and being. On a personal level, I bring a trauma informed lens, first hand knowledge of Intergenerational Residential School abuse, addictions and dependency, family violence and resilience. I have deliberately placed myself in areas where I could grow personally as well as professionally and have created a “working toolbox” to address these issues when working with individuals facing these trials. I have devoted a large portion of my life to my own healing and in so became a certified Grief Recovery coach, Reiki practitioner and invested myself into learning about natural medicines, homeopathy, aroma therapy and naturopathy to help with those suffering from addictions. I consider myself a life-long learner and have a willingness to take on new initiatives. Team dynamics and group safety has also been a priority when working towards strategic goals. Communication and relationship building is also very important in my world. I am adaptable and focused on community development and educational opportunities to make change.
