About Ferry Samosir

Ferry Samosir reaches 25 years of combined experiences in private sector, private sector development and humanitarian works in 9 provinces and 27 districts in Indonesia: Mollucas, Central Sulawesi, East Kalimantan, West Java, West Aceh, North Sumatra, Aceh, East Nusa Tenggara, South Sulawesi and South East Sulawesi. His main experiences are dominated by development work under non-for profit program through Care International Indonesia for the silk value chain development project, World Relief/Tearfund UK for disaster management responses (Nanggore Aceh Darussalam), a humanitarian project by Oxfam GB (Nias Island) and two market system development projects under Swisscontact. Ferry was experiencing to work for the private sector through a transmigration resettlement project, and was working for a palm oil plantation company. He has managerial skills in Inclusive System Development, Local Economic Development, Rural Economic Development and Value Chain Development. He holds several positions on Monitoring and Result Measurement under various development program. He experienced in humanitarian and disaster-emergency response, and lead several program in the field of agriculture, tourism destination, tourism policy, and involved in several development program in higher tourism education projects as well as polytechnic development projects in Indonesia. He has strong passion in project monitoring and evaluation, and lead key monitoring position of several programs. Ferry is auditor team member of Indonesia’s Sustainable Tourism Council, an Indonesian Government Quasi Certification Body, and experienced in auditing of several tourism destinations in Indonesia. He is also part of the expert team in the evaluation mission of Indonesia Destination Management Organization Program. He currently holds position as Deputy Program Manager of Sustainable Tourism Development Program as continuation 2 previous tourism destination development project - all are in Indonesia. His interest and experiences lead to a capability in leading development program, including designing development program, monitoring and result measurement as well as program evaluation.
