About Fisaha Tesfay

I am a Research Fellow at the Australian Centre for Cancer Equity within the Ingham Institute for Applied Medical Research. I hold a PhD in Public Health from Flinders University and have over five years of postdoctoral experience. My work focuses on cancer equity and clinical trials, using qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods research to improve access and outcomes for underserved populations across metropolitan, regional, and rural areas.I have published over 63 peer-reviewed papers, including in high-impact journals such as The Lancet and BMJ, and have secured more than in competitive research funding. I actively contribute to national and international collaborations addressing health inequities.Beyond research, I bring expertise in project management, stakeholder engagement, and translating evidence into policy and practice. I am passionate about advancing culturally safe cancer care, equitable clinical trial participation, and precision oncology. I also supervise HDR students, mentor early career researchers, and build strong partnerships to drive sustainable, community-centred improvements in cancer services and health systems.
