About Frans van Dijk
As professor of empirical analysis of legal systems, my focus is on the characteristics and performance of legal systems from the perspective of the intrinsic value of the rule of law and from the perspective of promoting a peaceful and affluent society. Do national and international legal safeguards actually preserve the rule of law? Do legal systems reduce conflict and promote productive social and economic interaction? I use in particular data that have been gathered by the European Network of Councils for the Judiciary. In my part-time function as advisor of the Netherlands Council for the Judiciary I am leading projects for the ENCJ and I am working on the economic aspects of the judiciary and the legal infrastructure in general. Specialism: international comparative research, strategy development, experimental economics, law and economics
