An innovative, result-oriented scientist with 18+ years of cross-functional research experience in leading drug discovery & early clinical development teams for NCEs, Biologics, Peptides, & 505(b)(2)’s- By training, I am a pharmacologist with a PhD/post-doc from Canadian universities (University of Manitoba & University of Toronto) and expertise in multiple therapeutic areas- Lead the teams to four successful INDs – US/India (Metabolic, Breast Cancer, Antibacterial & Interstitial Cystitis/Bladder Pain), and three 505(b)(2)’s (Diabetes, Parkinson’s & Gaucher Disease-Orphan)- Expertise in leading multiple programs driving end-to-end deliverables such as target identification/validation, ADME, in-vitro/in-vivo pharmacology, non-clinical safety, early clinical and regulatory strategies in time/cost-efficient manner- Identify a novel product pipeline, evaluation & due diligence, business review, in-licensing/out-licensing opportunities, pre-screening and presenting to senior leadership (e.g, Academia/Industry assets)- Expertise in qualifying for Small Business Innovation Research grants, National Institute of Health (USA,~$2M) and successful Indian Council for Medical Research funding (~$0.3M). Well-versed in scientific/medical writing and clinical regulatory strategies (USFDA, CDSCO)- Collaborative projects with several research/academic institutions in the US (Huntsman Cancer Institute-University of Utah, Cleveland Clinic), Australia (Bond University), and India (IIT-BHU, IIT-Gandhinagar, IIT-Mumbai)- To date, 17 publications in peer-reviewed journals, nine published patents, and 29 scientific abstracts (oral/poster) presented at various symposiums (US, Canada, and India). Contributed to the pharmacological profiling of Lipaglyn (Saroglitazar), approved in India (NASH, diabetic dyslipidemia) and undergoing phase 2/3 in the US- During post-doc (University of Toronto, Canada), I worked in the laboratory of Dr. Patricia Brubaker with focus on an anti-diabetic hormone, glucagon-like peptide-1 synthesis and secretion in intestinal L-cells. Recipient of 3 post-doctoral fellowships- During PhD (University of Manitoba, Canada), I worked on identifying mechanisms involved in diabetes-associated cardiovascular complications. Recipient of graduate student fellowship & several travel awards.
