About Gareth Greene

I'm a highly-experienced communications professional who has worked in some of London's most high-profile and politically-charged organisations, including the Metropolitan Police Service, HS2 Ltd, Barts Health NHS Trust and several London local authorities. I'm currently the Head of Media at Redbridge Council. I provide input and strategic oversight on media campaigns, pitching news stories and ensuring we offer engaging and relevant digital content for our social media channels as part of our offer. The council's media profile has improved significantly during my time at Redbridge, meaning we now have regular coverage in London's main regional titles and broadcasters. I have an excellent eye for good news stories and have built strong working relationships with some of London's most influential political journalists and broadcast planning teams. As part of my role, I lead day-to-day media relations management with local, regional and national journalists, and I also have excellent reactive media and stakeholder relations experience. Examples range from responding to London terrorist attacks, local homicides, and the council's response to the COVID-19 pandemic to the closure of local community and sports centres. I played an instrumental role in setting up and distributing a weekly digital newsletter to more than residents. Each newsletter contains the latest information on crucial council priorities, including community safety, clean and green, regeneration and healthier lives. Colleagues and partner organisations hold me in high regard. This is mainly due to my pragmatic approach, calm, considered approach, and can-do attitude. I lead by example and can deliver tactical work and provide strategic oversight. Colleagues, staff & partners regularly acknowledge and comment on this.
