December 2018. I completed rebuilding one half of the barn on my family property. Originally built in 1968, the half that was redone had a leaking roof. I disassembled this part all the way down to the foundation, sealing some cracks that appeared in the last forty years. Replaced all top and bottom wall plates then built stud walls 16 inch on center, installed exterior walk doors and windows. The new windows are fairly inexpensive but do allow sun light and air circulation in this 16 by 26 foot section and, it's still a barn. I put on 1/2 inch plywood exterior wall and roof sheathing and cover the rebuilt section with steel siding. July 2018. Removed the sliding door that opened the haymow for moving hay in and out. The old haymow had been concreted in 1990 by my brother, this barn had been turned into a shop by my dad in the summer of 1978 when my mom sold the last two milk cows. I installed a 10 X 8 (W X H) overhead door and rebuilt the 13 foot section of wall to support it.
