About Gavin Grace

I am working as a Communications Officer with the Active Travel Department of Galway City Council. This exciting opportunity will see me work with Council staff, stakeholders and external funding agencies to support the delivery of walking and cycling infrastructure throughout Galway City. I firmly believe that the vision for Galway as a city where more people travel by foot and bicycle is achievable in the coming years, and that it will be transformative. Previously, I worked as a Communications Officer with HSE Mid West Community Healthcare, a role which saw me play an important role in the communications of a growing and important sector of our healthcare services in Ireland. In this work, I gained significant experience in the challenges and opportunities presented by working in public sector communications in Ireland. I formerly worked as a broadcaster, journalist and documentary maker in local, regional and national radio including over five years as presenter of Morning Focus, the flagship current affairs programme of Clare FM. I also have extensive experience as an Event M.C. and media trainer, including communications advice and interview preparation.
