About Gemma Wright

I am passionate about dance and health, and mentoring others to lead in the dance and health industry in a self compassionate way. I embarked on my own journey by pursuing a BA (Hons) in Performance Studies at the University of Northampton, complemented by dance teaching qualifications (DDTAL) from Trinity Laban. I hold 18 years of experience in teaching community dance, arts management, leading, mentoring and producing. I've contributed to esteemed institutions such as the Royal Academy of Dance, Trinity Laban, dancedigital, and Dance East. My background has instilled in me a profound understanding of dance's transformative power, fostering joy, connection, and well-being. I firmly believe in dance as the ultimate form of holistic medication. I founded the Dance Network Association in 2015 and to date have raised over 1 million pounds to deliver my mission across Greater Essex in supporting people to live well through dance. I am a mummy to two little ones. I enjoy moving my body and dancing, cycling the roads, Mr Wicks workouts, meditating, coffee, reading nonfiction, listening to audiobooks and self-help podcasts and filling up my cup with all forms of self-compassionate care. I also love learning and sharing my new knowledge with others and supporting other causes I care dearly for and my own DNA. So expect to see a few of these on my page, too!
