About Ginger Egberts
In 2018, I received my Mathematics Masters degree. The day I graduated, I saw the vacancy for my doctoral research, which I started in 2019 and finished in 2023. Within this research, we studied the use of mathematics models for post-burn contractions in scars. It was my ambition to proceed with an academic career and continue working on the mathematical modelling of biological processes. In June 2023, I started a postdoctoral research, where we used machine learning to speed up computer simulations for burn care. From January 2025, I continue as a postdoctoral researcher at the Civil-Military Centre of Expertise for Trauma Care (CETC) in the UMC Utrecht. The goal of the project is an inventory of military acute burn care.
