About Ginger Matchett

She is also a contributor and lead organizer of the Global Foresight report series. She helps to manages the portfolio’s research, events, operations, and business development. Previously at the Atlantic Council, she was a Project Assistant that worked across all three GeoStrategy portfolios—strategy, foresight, and national security resilience, as well as a Young Global Professional with Forward Defense focused on US defense strategy and military operations. Ginger graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from American University's School of International Service, concentrating in global security, conflict, peace, and governance. She had a primary regional focus of European and Eurasian affairs, and a secondary in Sub-Saharan African issues. Through previous work experience at the Center for European Policy Analysis, she focused on transatlantic security, the Russia/Ukraine war, NATO, Black Sea security, and Nordic-Baltic issues. With the National Defense University, she researched geoeconomic security and Chinese FDI in Europe, as well as armed groups and intrastate conflict in Africa. At European Parliament, she researched the EU's common security and defense policy and missions. At American University, she completed her capstone research for the US Department of State’s Office of Global Criminal Justice on the nexus of climate change, mass atrocities, and conflict. She also conducted qualitative ethnographic research on the women, peace, and security agenda around the world and the discourse of menstrual health and international development in Sub-Saharan Africa. Apart from research and writing, she has extensive project management, event planning, government relations, communications, media, and marketing skills with experiences at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, She Saves A Nation, and the Czech Embassy in Washington DC. With advanced German and intermediate French language skills, she studied abroad in Belgium with American University's EU in Action Program and in Germany with the US Department of State's CBYX scholarship program.
