Young people today hold the key to our future. They will be the workforce that staff our businesses and lead our communities. Unfortunately, studies show a fundamental disconnect between how education prepares them and how business rates them as prospective employees. I believe, in large part, this is happening because educators have a purpose, language, and pace very different from the purpose, language, and pace of most businesses. Neither have the time to truly understand the other which leaves talented young people disconnected from opportunities. Disconnected doesn’t mean they lack talent or motivation. They just need a bridge between the culture of education and the speed of business. Most of my career has allowed me to build bridges in this space and in my newest role as CEO of Tomorrow’s Talent, I lead a highly effective team solely focused on connecting young people to their careers. This work helps schools meet their mission, helps industry to staff for the future, and helps young adults thrive quickly in the world of work.
