About Gino Marchetti

Gino was born and raised in the Sugarloaf Valley near Hazleton, Pennsylvania. Gino began his career in the golf course industry and the age of 12. From a young age Gino knew that he was meant to be a golf course Superintendent. He held his 1st job at Valley Country Club. Gino continued working there throughout jr. high/high school and spent his summers and breaks working there while in college. He attended Penn State University and graduated in 2001 with a bachelor's of science in Turfgrass Science. Gino also interned at Old Westbury Golf and Country Club on Long Island. Shortly after his internship ended he was offered an Irrigation Technician position at Eagle Rock Resorts in Hazleton, Pennsylvania. After a brief stay at Eagle Rock he accepted 2nd assistant position at Fieldstone Golf Club in Greenville, DE where he quickly worked his way to the 1st assistant's position. Gino spent 4 years working at Fieldstone Golf Club before a family illness brought him closer to home. He accepted a 1st assistants position at Glen Oak Country Club in April of 2005. His experiences gave him the opportunity to utilize and develop his golf course management skills and provided him with experiences necessary to be a successful Superintendent in the golf industry. He was promoted to Superintendent in 2008. Gino works meticulously everyday to ensure first class golf course conditions for the Club. Over the past 14 years Gino has played many roles in the Pocono Turfgrass Association, including President and Vice President. He has been a member of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America for 16 years and has been a GCSAA Class A member for 7 years. Gino has also has been a Grass Roots Ambassador for the past 4 years. Gino now lives in Waverly Twp. with his wife and 2 children. Aside from maintaining the golf course, Gino loves wrestling, coaching his sons football team, and spending time with his family and friends.
