Background

About Giulia Gilmore

As an AHRC collaborative doctoral researcher at the British Library, I combine my passion for ancient and medieval literature and culture with my skills in research, content writing and editing. I hold a Master's by Research in Medieval French Literature and a Bachelor's degree in languages from Durham University, where I developed my expertise in the History of the Book and medieval languages and scripts, such as Latin, Old French, and Anglo-Norman. I am a native British English speaker and native Italian speaker with working proficiency in modern French and a basic proficiency in Korean. In my current roles, I have contributed to various academic and public projects that showcase the richness and diversity of medieval manuscripts and rare books. I have worked with the curatorial team on the British Library's major exhibition,'Alexander the Great: The Making of a Myth', and contributed to the publication of the exhibition catalogue book. I have also organised events, such as a conference hosting worldwide scholars and a postgraduate workshop, to foster interdisciplinary dialogue and collaboration among curators and PG students. Additionally, I have catalogued manuscripts, written for the British Library's Medieval Manuscripts blog, and taught public courses about ancient and medieval literature and culture. Through these experiences, I have demonstrated my ability to communicate complex and nuanced ideas to different audiences, to collaborate with various stakeholders and partners, and to support the preservation and dissemination of cultural heritage to the wider public.
